Five Summer Knits To Try

With this amazing summer we are having, it can seem hard to be motivated to knit chunky jumpers and snuggly scarves. So how can you satisfy your knitting itch? By knitting some summery projects of course!

There are a multitude of patterns out there for lacy summer tunics, open weave jumpers, short lightweight cardigans and bright accessories. We particularly love using cotton yarn as the temperature climbs as it is naturally breathable and so acts as its own personal temperature control!

Here are our top 5 knitting ideas for the Great British summer!

1) Folded clutch

Why not make a summer clutch bag in bright colours for all of those summer weddings and BBQs? If you’re spoilt for choice on colour, make one in every shade!

2) Baby sun hat

Super fast to make and something every new parent will thank you for. Babies need a little extra warmth, even in the summer months. Again, use soft 100% cotton yarn for a delicate baby skin. We love the idea of matching soft shoes too!

3) Tea-light holders

Make the most of those long summer evenings and dine al fresco – add a little light to proceedings with some contrasting tealight holders for an extra luxe touch to your summer BBQ.

4) Summer bunting

Cheer up your garden or interiors with some pretty bunting in pastel shades. The great thing about bunting is it’s portable so you can use it wherever you want to bring an injection of colour and style. You can use cotton yarn but we really like the texture that using wool creates in these bunting beauties…

5) Garden cushion

Make the most of your garden this summer and make some knitted cotton cushions in colours to match your own scheme. Use them on benches, seats and even as kneelers for gardening and you’ll wonder how you ever did without them.
